Advanced & Defensive Driving Courses Staffordshire
.
Staffordshire has a relatively high accident crash rate – this is partly down to the nature of the roads and also the volume of traffic. We have a number of specialist advanced driving tutors in Staffordshire that can help reduce the road risk of company car and van drivers in the county, along with private individuals.
We can offer training from your business location anywhere in Staffordshire. We also provide driver training for non-business customers.
We cover this location + all of the UK – We come to you for the training:
We provide bespoke advanced/defensive driver training to companies and private individuals using our national network of DVSA-registered advanced driving instructors.
Locations:
We cover all the main towns, including Stoke, Crewe, Leek, Stafford, and Kidsgrove, during our advanced driving courses, and have already helped a large number of Staffordshire-based companies who want to invest in an advanced driving course. Our advanced driving course routes in Staffordshire tend to cover a wide range of roads to ensure each delegate receives the highest level of training possible.
Some of the training takes place on the M6 (if it’s not at a standstill!), the A53 and A525, which are great roads to teach more advanced car control techniques and town and city centres throughout the county for urban driver training. A large proportion of urban driving takes place in Stoke itself. It has a wide network of urban roads for us to provide training on.
Remember – Each driving course is bespoke to your own needs. This applies to both business and individual customers across the UK
Advantages of training with us:
- We have a range of bespoke courses
- We care for you before, during and after a course
- Your course manager will get to know you, and your specific needs
- Tutors are available for a call before and after your course
- Driver progress is recorded and detailed on our bespoke driving reports, sent to you by email after the course, so you can see progress and the overall risk of a driver
During our advanced courses, we cover a wide range of elements bespoke to the needs of the driver:
- Looking at a driver’s own specific driving style, mileage, types of roads and driving history to make a bespoke training plan
- Helping drivers observe, plan and anticipate more effectively
- Speed awareness and how to manage your own speed
- Improving a driver’s attitude towards safer driving
- Evaluating a driver’s motorway driving skills and ability
- Increase a driver’s ability on rural roads, which require superior car control
- Dealing with urban driving and the unique hazards found, such as dealing with cyclists and pedestrians
- Reversing and parking
- Driving in dangerous weather
We score a driver in over 20 areas of driving both before and after a course, from Excellent to Poor, so you can see the areas of improvement, in what areas, along with handwritten notes from the tutor. Each driver taking the training will also be graded an overall road risk from low to high.
For all our bespoke driving courses in Staffordshire, we provide training on a range of roads and different areas, which can include:
Motorway training – Staffordshire is a large county to the north of Birmingham and is served by the M6, running from north to south from Carlisle to Birmingham via Cannock, Stafford, and Stoke on Trent. We can build a course that includes using part of the M6 and other fast routes, such as the A34 and the A38. Motorway driving is a skill that is not taught when passing a driving test, and many drivers are using them without any extra training. Being able to use fast motorways in safely is vital, and if you feel unconfident, then you will probably stop using motorways altogether, this is where we can help. By learning how to deal with higher speeds and more traffic, you can start to use the motorways confidently. We can help you with the entering and exiting junctions, stop you from being boxed in by large lorries and help you get to your destination safely. Statistically, using motorways are the safest routes to travel, but they are worrying if you are unfamiliar with them.
Rural Roads – Much of Staffordshire is rural, and many severe accidents happen on these roads, much more often than on motorways or town driving. With very little signage or streetlighting, rural roads can be treacherous, especially in the winter, when there is the possibility of fallen trees or flooding. The B519 and the B5405 from Woodseaves across to Great Bridgeford have seen many accidents in the past few years, including younger drivers. With a little extra training, rural roads can be a pleasure to use, and by using better forward planning and learning driving techniques such as the limit point, you can drive rurally safely. Farm vehicles can cause problems such as muddy roads, and driving behind them can be frustrating as often there is no room to overtake, so it is very worth looking at rural training if you intend to use these small, quiet lanes. Some people are buying campervans to holiday in the UK, and we have helped many drivers learn how to stay safe in bigger vehicles on rural roads.
Urban Training – Stoke on Trent and Stafford are the largest towns in Staffordshire, and we have helped hundreds of drivers navigate busy large town centres and urban driving. From newly qualified drivers to delivery drivers, we have created courses that include large urban roundabouts and multi-lane traffic lights to show nervous drivers how to navigate these roads confidently. Stoke on Trent, for example, has the Queensway that circles the centre, and we use this often used for urban training, and in Stafford, we use the A34 that links Newport and Weston Road. Learning how to anticipate the actions of other drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists is a skill that can be picked up very easily with a little extra training. Most accidents occur across urban roads due to frustration, and when accidents do happen, they are usually at slower speeds and because of a momentary lapse of concentration.
