Advanced & Defensive Driving Courses Peterborough
We have helped a number of companies and private customers in Peterborough that wish to implement an advanced driving course for their drivers (or for themselves).
Our advanced driving courses in Peterborough are conducted by tutors, who know the area well and have had many years delivering advanced driver training in the area.
We provide bespoke advanced/defensive driver training to companies and private individuals using our national network of DVSA-registered advanced driving instructors.
During a session, we typically look at:
* Forward planning and observation
* Speed Awareness
* Developing a positive attitude towards safer driving
* How to become a safer driver on all roads
* Car or van control (gears, steering, foot controls, signals)
* Rules of the road
* Dealing with road rage
* Reversing and manoeuvres
* Dealing with adverse weather
* Town and urban defensive driving
* Driving in heavy traffic and allowing adequate space
* Skid control theory and learning what causes skids
* Eco-safe driving (effective use of speed, gears, and planning)
* Anticipation – Learning to see and not just look
* Understanding other road users and their intentions
Remember – We build all our driving courses from scratch and are built around your specific needs. This applies to both business and private customers all over the UK.
For all our bespoke driving courses in Peterborough, we provide training on a range of roads and different areas, which can include:
Motorway training – The A1 motorway merges into the A40 and the A47 to the west of Peterborough, and using routes such as these, can help drivers become more confident when using the motorway system. In the past few years, many things have changed with motorway driving, such as the introduction of Smart Motorways without hard shoulders and the clamping down on high speeds where just one mile over the limit can result in a fine. These new additions are helping with road safety, but accidents on motorways can still be quite severe due to the increased speeds.
Rural Roads – Peterborough is set in a very rural area of Cambridgeshire, and the many miles of rural roads surrounding the city have seen a number of accidents. Unfortunately, they often tend to be young drivers or those driving too fast for the conditions. During certain times of the year, many narrow lanes may be cut off due to flooding or ice, and in very windy weather, the possibility of tree falls blocking a road. The A605 towards Whittlesea and joining the A141 at Guyhirn has seen a number of collisions, much like the country lanes in the triangle of roads between Stretton, Billingsborough and Holbeach.
Urban Training – Peterborough has a sprawling urban network of roads, and although much of the retail centre is pedestrianised, the roads into the town centre can be congested, especially in rush hour traffic. Many accidents in urban environments are down to poor indication, impatience, and not paying attention to entire surroundings. The A15 and Thorpe Road intersection, along with the linking roads of St. Johns Street and Boongate, are notoriously poor areas and have seen many accidents, which may have been minor due to slower speeds but still have caused chaos and costly damage. Learning how to anticipate the actions of other road users, including motorbikers, cyclists, pedestrians and public transport routes.
