Advanced & Defensive Driving Courses Middlesex
We have a large number of private and business clients located in Middlesex and West London.
This is a good location for many locally based businesses as we can provide advanced driver training in the suburbs of West London and also head west towards Reading and nearby areas.
We cover Middlesex + All of the UK – We come to you for the training:
We provide bespoke advanced/defensive driver training to companies and private individuals using our national network of DVSA-registered advanced driving instructors.
What happens on the day?
The Initial Drive – After the introductions and brief car checks have been carried out, and once the driver has had time to relax, they will be asked to drive in a way that they normally do. This gives the tutor time to assess their normal driving style. Once this is complete, we will stop for a short review, and our tutor can outline what they observed.
The Main Part – The main part of the training is when most of the coaching takes place. We cover a range of areas, including car control, awareness and anticipation, rules of the road, positioning, and dealing with different road types and adverse weather, along with many others.
The Debrief – Once the training is complete, a full debrief takes place. This is an essential part of the day where the delegate’s feedback is also essential. Once the course is complete, you will be sent a course report outlining how the driver performed. The course report provides interesting notes and tips too.
Remember – All of our on-road driving courses are bespoke to your own needs. This relates to both business and private customers
During a session, we typically look at:
* Forward planning and observation
* Speed awareness
* Developing a positive attitude towards safer driving
* How to become a safer driver on all roads
* Car or van control (gears, steering, foot controls, signals)
* Rules of the road
* Dealing with road rage
* Reversing and manoeuvres
* Dealing with adverse weather
* Town and urban defensive driving
* Driving in heavy traffic and allowing adequate space
* Skid control theory and learning what causes skids
* Eco-safe driving (effective use of speed, gears, and planning)
* Anticipation – Learning to see and not just look
* Understanding other road users and their intentions
For all our bespoke driving courses in Middlesex, we provide training on a range of roads and different areas, which can include:
Motorway training – Middlesex lies to the east of London and is served by the M1 motorway running from Brent Cross and joining many other motorway junctions on the way. For our Middlesex customers, we can create motorway courses to include the A406, The Great North Way and Watford Way and then link to the M1. We can teach drivers how to maintain composure, stay safe and drive confidently on the motorways. By using advanced driving techniques, you can scan the road ahead well and observe any issues in good time, enabling you to move past or stay behind any potential vehicle causing a risk. There are many reasons drivers worry about motorway driving, and we have helped thousands of drivers use them confidently, from the worry of missing a junction, maintaining the right speed for entering and exiting and avoiding being boxed in by lorries.
Rural Roads – Middlesex is a very busy urban county close to London and has seen many Londoners move into the county due to its location. Many drivers who have relocated from busy urban areas to more rural settings may not have used their cars much, relying on public transport and are now struggling with rural driving. Middlesex is not a rural county, but it does not take long to leave behind the urban bustle. There will always be less street lighting and less signage on rural roads and possibly some single-track lanes in very rural farming areas, especially if we drive into parts of rural Hertfordshire. We can create routes tailored to your needs, such as the A5109 from Apex Corner roundabout, following the B552 and linking to the B5378 at Shenley. Using rural roads such as these, we have helped to train many drivers with the worries that come with rural driving. Unfortunately, the statistics show that most accidents occur on rural roads, and they tend to be the younger drivers that come to the most harm. This is why extra driver training is essential if you are unfamiliar with driving on such roads.
Urban Training – Being one of the busiest counties in the UK, Middlesex has many highly populated urban districts, and driving in busy town environments can cause many issues. There is usually a lot more traffic during particular times of the day, like rush hours or school run times, and this can make urban driving very frustrating and many drivers impatient. Accidents that tend to happen in urban areas are not as severe as the ones on fast motorways or rural lanes, but they occur due to poor observations and not being aware of your surroundings. We can create a course that takes in urban driving. For example, if we look at Brent Cross, depending on your location, we can take you along Hendon Way, across the Brent Cross Flyover, onto Watford Way, and back into Brent Cross centre for a portion of a course. Using such routes and routes like this, we can help with the large multilane junctions and traffic lights – and train you to be more aware of other drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.
