Advanced & Defensive Driving Courses Oxfordshire

We have a number of highly experienced advanced driving tutors who can provide advanced driving courses in the county of Oxfordshire.
The vast majority of the advanced driving courses we carry out in Oxfordshire tend to start in Oxford, although we cover all parts of the county.

We provide bespoke advanced/defensive driver training to companies and private individuals using our national network of DVSA-registered advanced driving instructors.

During a session, we typically look at:

* Forward planning and observation
* Speed Awareness
* Developing a positive attitude towards safer driving
* How to become a safer driver on all roads
* Car or van control (gears, steering, foot controls, signals)
* Rules of the road
* Dealing with road rage
* Reversing and manoeuvres
* Dealing with adverse weather
* Town and urban defensive driving
* Driving in heavy traffic and allowing adequate space
* Skid control theory and learning what causes skids
* Eco-safe driving (effective use of speed, gears, planning)
* Anticipation – Learning to see and not just look
* Understanding other road users and their intentions

Remember – Each driving course is bespoke to your own needs. This applies to both business and individual customers across the UK

How We Are Different

Some time ago, we noticed that in a world where many things can be bespoke to your needs and arranged conveniently online, the driver training industry fell short. Despite the vital importance of improving road safety, it simply was not that easy to find high-quality, bespoke driver training to cater for your own specific needs and requirements. This is where we come in.

We make high-quality, bespoke driver training convenient and easily accessible for customers.

With a focus on exceptional quality, we provide a personal, one-to-one service supported by a talented team of professionals who love what they do. For driver training, we take the time to handpick the best tutors to ensure our customers receive the best training possible. Our flexibility means we can tailor a driving course to a customer’s specific needs.

For all our bespoke driving courses in Oxfordshire, we provide training on a range of roads and different areas, which can include:

Motorway training – The M40 sweeps Oxfordshire north to south. It links to the A40 at junction 8 and the A34 and A41 at junction 9. Advanced driver motorway courses can take in many faster roads, and the M40 helps with the many issues you can face when driving on a motorway. Forward planning and better observation techniques will be taught as well as stopping the worry when driving alongside lorries or being boxed in by them. We will also help you to enter and exit the motorways with confidence. We can create a motorway course around your specific issues in any area in Oxfordshire.

Rural Roads – Bordering the Cotswolds, Warwickshire and Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire has many beautiful rural areas filled with pretty villages, but the lanes that connect them can be hazardous if you are not familiar with rural driving. From driving at night on unlit roads, less road furniture (signs and lines) and very tight cornering, many advanced driver methods will help you navigate such areas confidently. Often the summer months are busier on the rural roads due to tourism, and the farming communities are more active as well, with muddy lanes, and slow tractors, holding up a lot of journeys. Knowing how to drive safely in rural situations can be mastered with a little extra training for safer driving that will help with all aspects of road safety.

Urban Training – Oxford and Bicester are the larger towns across Oxfordshire, and we can create a course specific to your needs in urban and buy town environments. Many towns will have one-way systems or ring roads, and some will have new road layouts connecting the towns to retail parks or industrial estates. There are extra precautions you will need to take when driving in busy towns and cities, such as looking out for pedestrians and cyclists and the added traffic in rush hours. An advanced driving course will help you navigate the bigger junctions, traffic lanes and traffic lights, as well as help you to maintain the right speed for the area, which are not always well signed.

Our Training:

We can offer advanced driving courses in Oxfordshire on a 2:1 basis, where one driver is trained in the morning for 3.5 hours and the other in the afternoon for 3.5 hours. Alternatively, we can provide a full day (7-hour) session for one driver. Please contact us for a full quote. We can also offer 2 x 3.5-hour sessions or 3 x 3.5-hour sessions too.

Locations:

The rural nature of Oxfordshire makes it a great place for our advanced driving courses. Combined with the fact the M40 is an assessable distance from all areas of Oxfordshire makes the county one of the best for an advanced driving course.

Typically our courses expose drivers to rural, town and motorway driving. This is to ensure we not only observe the drivers in a range of driving situations, but we can provide coaching and training that is customised to the actual road.

Depending on the exact start location, on-road training can take drivers out of the county of Oxfordshire and into Gloucestershire to the west, Northamptonshire to the north and Berkshire to the south.

This does vary, and although we have a set number of routes, these can change depending on the specific session, the weather and what maybe has been previously agreed.

No two drivers are the same, which is why we have created a range of course options to fit your needs.

3.5hr – Mostly opted for by business customers when training a number of drivers back to back. It’s also open to private customers too who only need a shorter course. The 3.5-hour course is our shortest course available.

3.5hr x 2 – If you don’t fancy a full day but want to cover more than a 3.5hr session, then this split course is great. The 2 sessions can be split over a few days or weeks. Sometimes we can run this course over 2 days.

7hr full day – Intensive in its nature. But it is a great way to get the course done in one day. It’s certainly tiring but a great option for those pressed for time.

We have more specialist courses for drivers – 3,4,5 x 3.5hr courses. Mainly designed for private customers but is also open to business clients for specific at-risk drivers.

Bespoke training

Our bespoke training is what separates us from other training providers. The thought of a rigid tick box, one size fits all driving course fills us with dread. They’re uninspiring, boring and rarely get the most from a driver. So when we talk about “bespoke training”, what do we actually mean?

We look at training the same way we look at our customers, whether business or private; each one is unique. Every driver is different with regards to driving, based on both internal and external elements. Internal elements are things such as personality type, attitudes, and concentration. External elements are things such as years of driving experience, mileage covered, positive and negative experiences etc.
