Advanced & Defensive Driving Courses Reading
We already help a number of companies and private customers in the Reading area that require advanced driver training. Our courses do alter in their delivery, although we have a number of courses based on time; these are outlined below:
3.5hr session – 7hr session – 2 x 3.5hr sessions – 3 x 3.5hr sessions – 4 x 3.5r sessions – 5 x 3.5hr sessions
Although elements of our advanced driving courses take place in the centre of Reading, the majority of our driving courses take place on motorways and rural roads out of the centre.
No two drivers are the same, which is why we have created a range of course options to fit your needs.
* 3.5hr – Mostly opted for by business customers when training a number of drivers back to back. It’s also open to private customers too who only need a shorter course. The 3.5hr course is our shortest course available.
* 3.5hr x 2 – If you don’t fancy a full day but want to cover more than a 3.5hr session, then this split course is great. The 2 sessions can be split over a few days or weeks. Sometimes we can run this course over 2 days.
* 7hr full day – Intensive in its nature. But it is a great way to get the course done in one day. It’s certainly tiring but a great option for those pressed for time.
For all our bespoke driving courses in Reading, we provide training on a range of roads and different areas, which can include:
Motorway training – The busy M4 motorway runs south of Reading and links South Wales to London, and it heads into Reading centre via the A33. Being a very busy town on the London outskirts, it carries a lot of traffic, and the junctions are the most accident-prone areas. Being confident when using fast motorway routes is essential if you intend to use them regularly. The M4 often has many lane closures, traffic build-up and drivers all wanting to get somewhere, especially during rush hours. With excellent forward observations and scanning the road ahead, you can avoid any potential issues beforehand. Many drivers fear motorway driving due to the extra speed and number of lanes to navigate, and it will add many miles to their destinations. Taking some additional training for motorway driving can be very beneficial for any driver, especially those who are considering driving roles or are newly qualified drivers looking to venture onto motorways for the first time in safety.
Rural Roads – Reading is surrounded by picturesque open countryside with many miles of narrow lanes and minor B roads. Still, they can be hazardous if a driver is unfamiliar with rural driving. There are many issues associated with driving in quiet country areas, from narrow, often single-tract lanes that can be very winding and can impair forward vision to uneven road surfaces. Also, there is always the possibility of horse riders or cyclists around every corner and loose animals to worry about. Rural driving requires excellent attention to the road, especially where there may be minimal street lighting or warning signs. The triangle of roads between Pangbourne, Ashampstead and Woodcote has seen many accidents that may have been avoided with better observations and less speed, very similar to the Kiln Road leading to Mays Green. Rural driver training can make driving less stressful with some easy-to-learn techniques, which will improve all other areas of your driving.
Urban Training – The A4074 and the A4155 meet just north of Reading centre and creates a hectic ring road skirting the town, and using these roads in rush hour traffic can be stressful, especially if you are not used to urban driving or have to travel to new areas for work purposes. Urban driving requires a good understanding of the basics of mirror, signal manoeuvres, and indicating well to alert other drivers of your intentions. Many urban drivers are so used to their journey that they forget the basics of indication and are often more impatient, leading to stupid accidents that should have been avoided. Even though any accident is worrying, urban ones seem to be less severe due to the slower speeds, but still, they can be very upsetting and costly, so understanding urban road rules is a must.
