For all our bespoke driving courses in High Wycombe, we provide training on a range of roads and different areas, which can include:
Motorway training – The M40 lies to the south of High Wycombe and links London to Birmingham, it is a very busy motorway route, and many drivers fear using it due to the higher speeds and more traffic on the road at the same time. Although motorway accidents can be severe due to the speed of travel, the accidents are often found around the junction areas where drivers are either slow to join the carriageway or too fast for exiting and taking risks by scooting across lanes at the last minute. With extra driver training for motorway confidence, we can show you how to drive calmly and composed when using motorway systems. This is ideal if you are now finding motorways very challenging or if you are a new driver venturing out onto the motorways for the first time. Once you are confident with the motorway driving processes, you will find that your overall driving will improve with the training you receive, as this will transfer to all other aspects of your driving.
Rural Roads – High Wycombe is set amongst the Chiltern Hills, and many parts of the county contain thousands of miles of rural roads. Rural driving has a set of challenges unlike any other roads; you need to be fully observant of your surroundings, holding back on very winding roads and being able to read the road without or with very few signs, as signage in rural environments can be limited. Rural roads can be hazardous at certain times of the year with seasonal changes like flooding and ice. The A404 towards Hazlemere is particularly accident-prone, very similar to the A40 towards Stokenchurch. Rural accidents can be very severe and, sadly, sometimes fatal, which is why it is good practice to understand the regulations for rural driving. Understanding driving systems such as the ‘limit point’ for winding roads and better planning and observations can be the difference between arriving at your destination safely or being caught up in an accident, which may have been avoided with proper training.
Urban Training – The A404 cuts through High Wycombe centre and links to the A40 at the large urban roundabout to the south of the town. Urban driving can be frustrating, especially during rush hour traffic, where impatience and poor observations have been the main reasons for accidents in such areas. Much of High Wycombe town centre is pedestrianised. Advanced driver training will allow you to become much more confident when using busy urban routes. With improved mirror observations, leaving a space bubble around your vehicle and making sure your moves are well indicated should help you avoid being caught up in chaos.
Remember – Each driving course is totally bespoke to your own specific needs and requirements. This applies to both our business and private client courses.
