Screen-Shot-2014-09-26-at-00.07.33Our advanced driving courses in Dorset are designed to cover as many types of roads as possible. Depending on your location in the county, we cover a range of urban, rural and motorway driving.

For the motorway section, we can head towards the M5 in the west or the M271, M27, and M3 towards Southampton.

Our courses are usually split on a 2:1 basis. This means one tutor can train two drivers in a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, each receiving 3.5hrs training.

Please get in contact to discuss your training options and to receive a personalised quote based on the specific numbers you wish to train. We have some of the UK’s highest qualified tutors based in Dorset that can deliver your advanced driving course.

During a session, we typically look at:

* Forward planning and observation
* Speed Awareness
* Developing a positive attitude towards safer driving
* How to become a safer driver on all roads
* Car or van control (gears, steering, foot controls, signals)
* Rules of the road
* Dealing with road rage
* Reversing and manoeuvres
* Dealing with adverse weather
* Town and urban defensive driving
* Driving in heavy traffic and allowing adequate space
* Skid control theory and learning what causes skids
* Eco-safe driving (effective use of speed, gears, planning)
* Anticipation – Learning to see and not just look
* Understanding other road users and their intentions

Remember – We build all our driving courses from scratch, and are built around your specific needs. This applies to both business and private customers, all over the UK.

For all our bespoke driving courses in Dorset, we provide training on a range of roads and different areas, which can include:

Motorway training – Dorset is a beautiful county with many fast routes, such as the A338 joining the M27 north of Bournemouth and the A37 from Yeovil to Dorchester and the A35 from Sidmouth right through to Bournemouth. Although these may not be classed as motorways, they are very similar with multi-lanes and faster speeds. Using motorways can worry many people who stay within their local areas. Statistics show that motorway driving is one of the safest ways to travel, but it can be troublesome due to the amount of traffic and the higher speed limits. We can create a route around Dorset that will take in most of the faster roads and motorways to help those struggling with confidence on these faster roads.

Rural Roads –  Much of Dorset is coastal, and the small roads and single-track lanes to the beaches can be treacherous, especially in the summer months when there is much more traffic. The A452 between Wareham and Dorchester is ideal for rural training. As well as higher tourist traffic, the farming communities will be in full flow, with large farm machinery and tractors slowing up the routes. If you are used to driving in more urban areas, then rural driver training can really help you to stay safe. Not being able to see signs or road markings can be very hazardous, and many driving systems we teach can help with such issues. There is much to see and do in Dorset, so navigating minor roads safely is essential.

Urban Training – Dorset contains many towns, such as Bournemouth, Ringwood, Weymouth, and Dorchester. The location of Dorset means that throughout the year, urban traffic can ebb and flow with the tourist seasons, but it’s vital that you know your way around urban settings. From smaller town centres to larger cities with large urban traffic ring roads and multi-lane traffic light routes, being able to anticipate other drivers’ actions and watch out for cyclists and pedestrians is a key part of safe urban driving. As many towns are now constructing retail areas outside the centres, they will create new routes and large roundabouts, so knowing how to drive in busy urban areas is even more critical. This will help your overall driving capabilities.
